Greece has numerous beautiful islands, with Santorini and Mykonos ranking among the world’s top holiday spots. However, a new study has identified Paros as a trending destination for 2025. American Express Travel has included Paros on its list of Trending Destinations for the upcoming year.
The island cut analysed travel bookings and consulted with global travel experts, standing out as one of the few European locations featured on the list.
Their website states, “Laid-back Paros has become the Greek island of choice for many.” It boasts a vibrant cultural scene and its rocky coastline is dotted with stunning beaches, secluded coves, and intriguing sea caves. Located just a 40-minute flight from Athens—or a three-hour ferry ride—this wind-swept paradise is easily accessible.
With around 200,000 annual visitors, Paros attracts only 10% of the tourists that flock to Santorini, making it a quieter, off-the-beaten-path escape. The island is renowned for its high-quality marble, once prized in ancient times, and its picturesque beaches. The town of Naoussa, the island’s second-largest settlement, has been likened to a “smaller version of Mykonos.”
Visitors can expect delectable seafood, much of which is caught fresh and served up locally. Paros is also undergoing exciting changes, with the airport expanding its terminal and runway to improve travel infrastructure. The €41 million project is expected to be completed by 2026.
New accommodations are also on the rise, including the boutique Andronis, which opened earlier this year, and a new Canaves Collection resort inspired by success in Santorini. Last year, travel planner Jennifer Greene noted that Paros is gaining popularity, adding, “The lack of an international airport helps keep it under the radar, but a steady influx of chic new hotels is drawing more tourists.”
In addition to Paros, American Express highlighted Brittany in France as a trending hotspot, celebrating its “distinctive culture, coastal scenery, and miles of seaside walking paths like the GR34 trail.” One of the region’s standout attractions is Mont-Saint-Michel, nestled in the bay that borders Normandy and Brittany. Holidaymakers are particularly drawn to Plage de Tahiti, known for its expansive sandy beach, breath-taking views, and calm waters.
Ferries are a popular means of travel from the UK to Brittany, with routes available from Plymouth and Poole.
