In other news, Dublin Airport recently unveiled a new addition to its Terminal 2 just in time for the busy summer season. The popular Bewley’s cafe and bar is now open, offering passengers a range of cakes, sandwiches, coffee, and pints.
Announcing the opening on X (formerly Twitter), Dublin Airport stated, “Pop in and enjoy everything from coffee and cake to a pint of Guinness and a sandwich. Even more choice for passengers this summer.”
Bewley’s, one of Ireland’s top coffee spots, is expected to be a hit among holidaymakers at its new airport location.
This addition comes as Dublin Airport prepares for its busiest season, which is May to August each year. It accommodates over 10 million passengers.
Graeme McQueen, DAA Media Relations Manager, highlighted the surge in demand for car parking spaces due to the increased number of travellers.
He said, “All this travel means there’s a significant demand for car parking spaces at Dublin Airport, and our car parks are already sold out for the coming weekend.
Booking for the weeks ahead is also strong, with our car parks close to selling out for each of the upcoming four weekends.”
In a touching moment last week, Dublin Airport shared an emotional farewell for United Airlines pilot Captain Bryans, who celebrated his final departure before retiring after 31 years of service.
The airport posted a video on X, captioned, “The end of an era at Dublin Airport today as @united pilot Captain Bryans made his final departure before retiring after 31 years…”
The video showed Captain Bryans at gate 417, celebrating his significant milestone. He was presented with a giant cake in United Airlines colours, yellow flowers, and a congratulatory message:
“Congratulations on your retirement!” Colleagues from United Airlines joined him to mark this special occasion, expressing their best wishes and noting, “We will miss you, Captain!”
Dublin Airport announced the event to alert passengers, many of whom cheered for Captain Bryans’ achievement. His wife and daughter were also present, sharing the joy of his final departure and commemorating his long and distinguished career.
