Jet2 has announced a new flight route from Glasgow to Budapest as part of its winter 2025/26 programme. Starting from November 28, 2024, the budget airline will operate this new route twice a week, on Mondays and Fridays, until December 15.
The decision to introduce this route is driven by strong demand for Christmas market trips.
In addition to the Glasgow-Budapest route, Jet2 is expanding its winter schedule with extra flights to Budapest from several other UK airports.
These include Birmingham, Leeds Bradford, Manchester, and Newcastle. Budapest’s popularity as a destination is underscored by its affordability, with pints available from around £1.25 and accommodation for two starting at £21 per night, making it an attractive option for budget-conscious travellers.
Visitors to Budapest can enjoy a variety of activities, including cruising along the Danube River, exploring Buda Castle, and visiting the renowned café known as the “most beautiful in the world.”
The airline’s winter programme also features seven additional new routes. Bournemouth Airport will gain new flights to Prague and Vienna. Vienna will also see new connections from Belfast and Liverpool. Other new routes include flights from East Midlands Airport to Berlin, Newcastle to Gdansk, and London Stansted to Krakow.
Jet2 CEO Steve Heapy commented on the expansion, saying, “The demand for our popular Christmas Markets programme continues to rise, prompting us to offer our largest ever winter schedule. With new flights from all 12 of our UK airport bases, including Bournemouth, we are excited to provide even more options for winter travel.”
Tickets for these new flights are now available for booking, with prices starting from £49 on the Jet2 website.
Additionally, Europe’s best airline plans to launch new flights to the world’s most visited city from two UK airports, and the world’s largest island is set to build three new airports.
As the winter travel season approaches, Jet2’s new routes and additional flights are expected to offer travellers more flexibility and choice, ensuring a memorable holiday experience across Europe. The enhanced connectivity reflects the growing demand for affordable and accessible travel options during the festive period.
