Jet2 has announced a brand-new flight route from Newcastle International Airport to Chambéry, France, making them the first airline to offer this connection.
This expansion is part of the budget airline’s winter 2025-2026 schedule, which aims to provide more travel options for winter sports enthusiasts and holidaymakers.
New Routes and Expanded Winter Offerings
While many are still anticipating summer, Jet2 is already planning for the colder months by introducing three new winter routes. These include:
- Newcastle to Chambéry – A first-of-its-kind service to the Alpine city.
- Bristol to Gdańsk – A festive route for Poland’s renowned Christmas markets.
- Bristol to Berlin – Ideal for those looking to experience Germany’s famous holiday festivities.
Additionally, Jet2 is adding 96,000 more seats to popular destinations from November 2025 to March 2026, catering to the growing demand for winter getaways.

Why Visit Chambéry?
Although Chambéry is often overlooked in favor of more prominent Alpine destinations, it is a gateway to premier ski resorts in the French Alps. According to Lonely Planet, Chambéry is an “attractive” city that visitors to the region often miss.

Nicknamed “France’s Italian town”, Chambéry was under Italian rule from the 13th to the 16th centuries, leaving behind colorful architecture, grand squares, and Italian-influenced cuisine. Visitors can expect:
- Aperitivo culture – The city has a laid-back, Italian-inspired café and bar scene.
- Traboules (hidden passageways) – Explore secret alleyways beneath the Old Town.
- Elephant-themed landmarks – The Fontaine des Éléphants, a monument honoring a historic military leader, and an elephant trail that guides tourists to key city attractions.
